I received complimentary tickets in exchange for the following post about our family experience seeing the Harlem Globetrotters.
“Let’s do something fun today.” We’re four days into winter break and I’ve already heard that question at least a dozen times. When I first heard that the Harlem Globetrotters were coming to town over break, I knew it would silence their cries for “something fun.” I was in. Continue reading

I totally get it — ugly sweaters are all the rage. I love them and they are a ton of fun. But honestly, sometimes I just don’t want to wear a sewn on doll and string of lights on my chest to a holiday gathering (although, it was pretty creative, am I right?!). I want to get dressed up and go all out. I want to look elegant.
I was recently introduced to Misook, a women’s clothing brand that exudes sophistication through timeless pieces. Created in 1985, Misook Doolittle began her line in her New York home, hand-knitting one-of-a-kind pieces. She quickly garnered attention from women worldwide for her signature machine-washable “silky knit,” still infused in her collections today.
This post about our annual Santa visit is sponsored by Gymboree.
“Do you want to go see Santa tonight,” I asked her. Greeted with eyes of wonder, “Yes!” she cheered. “Let’s go see him so I can place my order.” Not exactly the thought-process I was thinking, but makes sense in the eyes of a 5-year-old who has seen Santa for the past few years with the sole purpose to ask him for what she wants for Christmas. “Honey, it’s not Burger King,” my husband chimed in. I partnered with Portrait Innovations for this post and received a session and portraits at no cost.
Do you remember getting all dressed up with the family and heading to the portrait studio as a kid for family photos? Sometimes it seems like with all the “instant” photos these days, the posed family photos that line the mantle take a backseat. Not in our house. Each year we take studio photos of each of the kids for their birthdays and this year, we joined them in the photo. Continue reading

FIVE. That is how old my little Bear is now. With each passing year, I scratch my head, asking myself, where did time go? My sweet little baby is now a kindergartner who loves dance, dolls and princesses. When I asked her why type of birthday party she’d like this year, she said Frozen, but we already checked off that box last year when Elsa came to visit, so for number 5, I asked myself how we could top that. Yep – ALL Disney Princesses.
I received samples from Thirty-One Gifts to facilitate this post.
Finding a fun and unique gift for your friend or family member’s new baby can be challenging, especially if they don’t have a gift registry. Of course there are always the tried-and-true items like diapers, pacifiers, layette outfits, or bibs, but thinking outside the diaper box can really make your gift memorable.

My friend threw the first-ever display baby shower that I had ever attended. I’m a huge stickler for the presentation of the gift (gift wrap, bows, Washi tape), so I’ll admit that the thought of bringing an unwrapped gift to her baby shower made me a little uneasy. Continue reading
This post about back to school fashion and this school year’s #KidGoals is sponsored by Gymboree.
Heading back to school is a big deal when you’re 5 years old. Bear is counting down the days to when she gets to see her friends again (you know, the most important part of school to a kindergartener).
But this back to school season is different this time around. Little Man is heading to school with her, starting preschool next month [big, huge crocodile mom tears].
Before the school years starts, I sat down with both of them to see what their goals are for this school year. Their answers, in true form, cracked me up. Continue reading
The following post about breastfeeding and breast pumps is sponsored and written by the folks at Aeroflow. This topic is near to my heart as a struggling breastfeeding first-time mom and exclusive pumper after my son’s nursing strike. I also used Aeroflow to obtain a free breast pump through my insurance in 2014 (so I can confirm that this is legit!). This post contains affiliate links.
According to the CDC, breastfeeding rates have steadily increased over the last few years, and it’s no surprise why since there are many health benefits for mom and baby. But while there are high breastfeeding initiation rates, the breastfeeding rates drop among infants at 3 and 6 months. Continue reading
